CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A key city committee has taken a significant step forward in funding a major infrastructure project. The Cheyenne City Council’s Finance Committee has voted to recommend drawing $5 million from municipal reserves to support the ongoing Reed Avenue Corridor Project.
This substantial allocation is intended to cover anticipated cost increases for the large-scale reconstruction effort. The project encompasses a complete overhaul of Reed Avenue between Pershing Boulevard and Dell Range Boulevard, a critical east-west thoroughfare. Planned improvements include replacing aging water and sewer lines, installing new storm drains, and fully reconstructing the roadbed, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
Officials emphasize that the project addresses vital infrastructure needs that can no longer be deferred. The existing utilities beneath the roadway are decades old and require modernization to ensure reliable service. Furthermore, the full reconstruction aims to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians along the busy corridor.
The committee's supportive vote sends the $5 million reserve draw request to the full City Council for a final decision. If approved, the funds will ensure the project continues without interruption, maintaining its schedule for substantial completion. The investment is framed as a necessary commitment to the city's long-term infrastructure health and quality of life for residents who depend on this key route.
