Doman Building Materials Group Ltd reported record second-quarter revenue of $904.5 million, a significant jump driven by strong demand across its lumber and specialty product lines. The company also posted net earnings of $38.2 million, up 12.6% from the same period last year, with adjusted EBITDA climbing to $78.5 million.
Management attributed the performance to solid volume growth in both Canada and the United States, along with improved pricing on treated wood and engineered products. The company's distribution network, particularly in the US Southeast, saw robust activity from repair and remodel projects as well as new home construction.
Looking ahead, executives said newly announced tariffs on imported steel and aluminum are expected to increase demand for US-made fencing products, a category where Doman holds a strong position. The tariffs, set to take effect later this year, could make domestic wood and composite fencing more cost-competitive against metal alternatives.
"We are seeing early signs of customers shifting specifications toward wood-based fencing solutions," the CEO noted during the call. "Our supply chain is well positioned to capture this incremental volume."
The company also highlighted progress on its expansion of treated lumber capacity in Texas, which is on track to come online in early 2027. That facility will add roughly 15% to total production capacity.
Cash flow from operations reached $61 million in the quarter, allowing the firm to reduce net debt by $22 million. The board maintained its quarterly dividend at $0.14 per share.
For the full year, Doman reaffirmed its guidance for mid-single-digit revenue growth and modest margin expansion, citing stable lumber prices and continued strength in renovation spending.
