The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, officially launched the Tamchy Special Financial Investment Territory (SFIT) on the coast of the alpine Lake Issyk-Kul. The new jurisdiction is designed to attract international capital and financial services to the region.
During the opening ceremony, the first companies were registered as residents of the territory. The Tamchy SFIT is expected to operate under a special legal framework, offering tax incentives and simplified procedures for businesses. The project aims to turn the area into a competitive hub for investment and financial operations in Central Asia.
Located on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul, Tamchy is a popular tourist destination. The government hopes the new financial zone will diversify the local economy beyond tourism and agriculture. The territory is modeled after similar special zones in other countries, with a focus on transparency and international standards.
Officials believe the SFIT will create jobs, increase foreign direct investment, and boost the country's profile as a business-friendly destination. The launch marks a significant step in Kyrgyzstan's efforts to modernize its financial sector and integrate with global markets.
